Nutritional Therapy

What is it?

Why is your diet so important?

Most of us realise that if we put the wrong fuel in a car, its not going to work very well, if indeed at all. It’s the same for our bodies and we are far more intricate than your average car!

Every cell in your body relies on components of your diet for its structure and to function properly. For example, the mineral magnesium is a co-factor to over 500 enzymes in your body, so a simple magnesium deficiency can have a significant impact upon your health.

Chronic inflammation is a huge problem for many of us today and drives many health conditions. Food can be a major contributor to inflammatory reactions in your body. Did you know that every mouthful that you eat is either increasing or reducing inflammation in your body? A nutritional therapy programme will emphasize an anti -inflammatory diet.

What is Nutritional Therapy all about?

Nutritional Therapy is a holistic therapy which aims to improve your health through the use of food and targeted nutrients which have a therapeutic effect. A Nutritional Therapy consultation can help you understand which foods, types of diets and supplements can help you achieve your health goals.

A nutritional therapy programme can be a useful therapeutic support in managing chronic health conditions or it can be a means of supporting your health and fitness goals. It can be an opportunity to change your dietary habits to create a lifestyle that supports your health and wellbeing and helps you to thrive.

Who is it suitable for?

Good nutrition is important whatever your age from pre conception into old age. All are welcome at Synergy Health.

What types of Nutrition Consultation would suit me?

If you have a chronic health complaint or want in depth analysis of your health concerns , then a full programme with report is the best choice for you. If you want to be fed the changes at a slow pace, just keeping it simple and manageable for you, then bite sized nutrition would probably work best for you.

Clients commonly seek the support of a nutritional therapist with the following disorders: Digestive complaints, IBS, IBD, Low Energy, Chronic Fatigue, Food Intolerances, Depression, Anxiety, sleep issues, arthritis & rheumatoid arthritis, Chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, thyroid issues, migraines & weight management.

What to expect

  • Your Nutritional Therapist will want to know all about you and your health. She will ask you to fill in a questionnaire before she sees you and will encourage you to speak about your health in detail when you meet. Her analysis will include reflecting on your previous health history and conditions that run in the family too. This session will last 90 minutes for a full programme session, or 60 minutes for bite sized nutrition.

  • Your Nutritional Therapist will send you some written information with clear guidance on what changes to make with your diet along with some handouts. If you are having an in depth programme you will get a full 7 day meal planner to help you make the changes as easily as possible She may also recommend supplements to support your health aims.

Follow-ups are usually held after 4-6 weeks to assess the impact of changes made and continue to move your treatment forwards.
