Shamanic Healing

What is it?

Shamanic healing is an ancient ritual based healing art that dates back to tribal times and is thought to have been practiced for over 100,000 years. Largely lost, it was rediscovered in the 1970’s by an anthropologist Michael Harner and quickly regained popularity in the western world.

A shamanic healer works in direct connection with the sacred and nature to bring about healing for the client. Shamanism is a powerful tool which can bring a greater sense of belonging and can empower you so you feel like you are thriving in your life.

How Does it Work?

Soul loss and power loss are seen to be two major causes of illness or problems in life and many shamanic healing sessions will include a soul retrieval and or power retrieval or bring about a connection with your own power animal. Shamanism can heal past events which can include working with the ancestors to facilitate ancestral healing as a means on benefiting the recipient’s life.

The shamanic practitioner works in concert with their power animal, guides and the elements of nature to facilitate a healing for the client.

Who is it suitable for?

Shamanic healing sessions are usually conducted for adults but not exclusively so. Each person is unique and we can benefit from healing at any age. If you are seeking help for a child, please contact the shamanic practitioner to discuss.

Shamanic healing is as effective for animals as it is for humans.

Where can it help?

A shamanic healing session can help in many situations: it can bring about physical healing, address feelings of having never been well since a certain event, heal a sense that something is missing, being disconnected from others or feeling lost in life. Emotional feelings such as low mood, anxiety, hopelessness, loss of focus, feeling like you don’t belong, low confidence and self esteem, phobias, irrational fears can all benefit and be healed through shamanic healing.

Shamanism has been found to be useful in healing of addictions and many psychotherapists use shamanism as a tool to support recovery & emotional wellbeing.

You can also use shamanic healing if you are feeling stuck in life to help you create a more fulfilling future where you thrive.

What to expect

  • An important part of a shamanic healing session is the preparation. Prior to your arrival the shamanic practitioner will spend time setting up the energy in the room, creating a sacred space to welcome you and will also make sure that their energy field is clear so that they can be completely focused on you.

The healing sessions themselves have 3 clear stages: initially we will sit and talk for the first 30 minutes or so. Then the shamanic practitioner will carry out the healing part of the treatment, you will usually be listening to drumming throughout the session, and you can sit and relax or meditate whilst this is happening. There will throws available so you can make yourself cosy & comfortable whilst this is taking place.

After the healing has taken place the practitioner will then tell the client about the healing that has taken place and this often evolves a bit like a film or a story – a lot can take place in a journey!

A shamanic healing session will take 90-120 minutes, so allow plenty of time for your appointment.

  • Each shamanic healing session is a complete healing in itself. There is no need for follow up to your session but sometimes clients come for a series of journeys.

After your session you will be sent some information about how to integrate power animals and soul parts should this be relevant to the healing that has taken place .
